eden

Counseling Intern

 Eden Oberfeld, BA Psychology

Graduate Student: University of Maryland, School of Social Work

Anticipated Graduation Spring 2025

Eden works with children and teens

Eden’s journey towards to becoming a clinical social worker began at a young age. Eden recalls times during childhood and adolescence of feeling misunderstood. She found comfort and self-awareness as she explored creative modalities as a form of self-expression. Creating art ignited a curiosity for Eden of the therapeutic use and benefits of creative modalities in the mental health setting. Eden pursued her passion for art by attending visual arts courses in middle school, high school and undergraduate school. Eden earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Art History from the University of Delaware’s College of Arts and Sciences. Eden brings her extensive experience working with children and teens in various settings, including summer camps, after-school programs and schools. In each of those settings, Eden had the opportunity to work with individuals facing challenges with anxiety; adjustment disorders; trauma; learning and/or developmental delays; depression; ADHD; autism; social, emotional and peer conflicts; family conflict; LGBTQ+ issues as well as grief/loss. Eden is dedicated to creating a safe, empathetic, and accepting therapeutic environment for clients. She incorporates developmentally appropriate interventions tailored to each individual’s strengths and needs, promoting growth and well-being. Eden embraces a trauma-informed approach, recognizing that past traumas may influence present behaviors and emotions. She utilizes a range of creative modalities, including art-based and play-based activities, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Art based activities play a significant role in her work, providing clients with a powerful way to express emotions and gain deeper insights into thoughts and feelings. Her hands-on approach helps build meaningful relationships with clients, ensuring they feel valued and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey. Eden’s goal is to create a nurturing space where clients can explore and grow through self-awareness and transformation.

Eden is under the supervision of Debbie Disney, LCSW-C.

Eden sees clients Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
